What Paylaterr Is

Paylaterr is a financial education website for people in the US who need to cover a cost of about $200 to $5,000 and want to understand their options first. It explains how personal loans work and what they cost, how buy now, pay later plans compare, and what to try before borrowing when a bill is due.

The site is also being built to connect people who decide that a personal loan makes sense with lending partners. That part isn't open yet. There's no loan request or application on this website today, and nothing here is an offer of credit.

What You'll Find Here

Every guide lists the public sources it relies on, such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and other federal and state agencies, with the date we last checked them. Our editorial policy explains how we research, check, and update that information.

What We Do and Don't Do

What we do

  • Explain how personal loans, pay later plans, and bill payment options work
  • Show the costs to compare, including APR, fees, and total repayment
  • Point to lower-cost help, like payment plans and assistance programs, before borrowing
  • Plan to pass along loan requests to lending partners once that service opens

What we don't do

  • Lend money or make credit decisions
  • Offer buy now, pay later plans or bill installment plans
  • Pay utility, rent, medical, or credit card bills for anyone
  • Give personalized financial, legal, or tax advice
  • Guarantee approval, a loan offer, rates, or funding times

How Paylaterr Plans to Work With Lending Partners

Here is how the service works:

  1. You choose an amount and read the options

Pick an amount from $200 to $5,000 and compare personal loans with the lower-cost alternatives that might fit.

  2. You decide whether to send a request

Before you submit anything, you'll see what information is shared, with whom, and why. Nothing is shared without your request.

  3. A lending partner reviews it

The lender decides whether to make an offer and sets the amount, APR, fees, and repayment terms based on its own criteria. Not every request receives an offer.

Paylaterr expects to be paid by lending partners for these connections. That's how the site plans to fund itself. It doesn't change what our guides say, and partners won't be able to pay to change our editorial content. Our disclosures explain this in more detail.
